This is a historic onsen hot-spring bath, famous for being used by Yasunari Kawabata.
The bath uses it's own natural volcanic spring-water source. Yama-no-yu is popular with Yuzawa townsfolk, and you can tell the quality of the water by the mineral water aroma as you walk by the bath house!
